Beyond the book – Reading as a bonding experience.
Reading with children is so much more than just saying the words on the page. Asking questions about what the child sees and pointing out details on the page help a simple story to become a real bonding experience.
St Clare College will be opening its doors for both boys and girls for a co-education experience. The need to prepare Year 6 students for this venture was felt and so the Principal, Ms Maria Ciappara together with a hard working team of people came together to develop a programme of eight days of activities.
It all commenced when Miss Ciappara, the Principal of Saint Clare College, had the splendid idea of bringing together all St Clare College Year 6 students who will be in Form 1 Pembroke Secondary next September 2013, so when we start school we won't be like: "Who is he? How am I going to make friends here?" Miss Ciappara made sure we never live this unpleasant experience by planning loads of bonding activities......and hey, it really worked, we all made new friends!
My Unforgettable Bonding Experience
Working at Texas Children’s Hospital, I’ve heard a lot about family-centered maternity care, which promotes mom and family bonding with a new baby from the earliest moments of life. I know how important it is, but I learned firsthand how truly powerful it could be during the birth of my second child. My first child’s birth was still a good experience, but looking back, I realize what it was lacking. Both my boys were delivered via C-Section. At my first son’s delivery, I could hear him in the room with me, but I couldn’t see what was happening with him. I couldn’t hold him or comfort his cries. And when my husband finally brought him to me swaddled up like a pink and blue striped burrito, it wasn’t until we were ready to go back to the recovery room. I imagined this was how my next child’s C-section would go.http://www.texaschildrensblog.org/2013/05/my-unforgettable-bonding-experience/
My favorite older member of the camp was this elderly man. His humility and sweet smile drew me to his side of the factory as soon as I saw him. His job was to fix the spinning wheels when they broke. He got so much joy out of showing us how the wheels work and how he is able to fix them from common problems. All of this was done without a single word spoken, just a smile. I wanted nothing more than to give him a great big hug, but a simple bow is probably more appropriate in his culture.

The thing that drew me to the topic of reading was the recent reading material I have been absorbed by. It’s the book “Think Like a Rock Star: How to Create Social Media and Marketing Strategies that Turn Customers into Fans” by Mack Collier, founder of #Blogchat. Yes, that’s the same Mack Collier who I have celebrated as a social media hero for creating the community of bloggers who provide each other encouragement, information, opinions and laughs each Sunday night.http://janiceperson.com/agriculture/ag-awareness/agricultural-magazines-farm-books/
This first picture you see here? That’s me going all fan-girl on Clay Walker – the Country Musician who is responsible for my love of country music. His songs first drew me in 20 years ago…
This weekend I had the pleasure of seeing Silje Nes at a cafe here in Santa Cruz. Silje Nes, from Norway but based in Berlin, plays beautiful and eccentric folk music, making use of a xylophone, marimba, flute and guitar. She also plays with a violinist and percussionist. Her music, a kind of makeshift symphony, drew me in, and I ended up perhaps a little too close to the stage trying to capture the moment.

What’s your follow through plan?
Having a follow through plan where you can track results is key to measuring success of any given campaign.
What commitments did you make for 2013?
At the start of 2013 I made a commitment that I was going to expand my guest blogging efforts and unlike many resolutions we make I’ve followed through.
I’ve written about everything from blogging to pinterest to profiles. Without further ado, here are the guest posts. I hope you find them really helpful!
It's really easy to make a goal - it's a little harder to actually follow through with it. You can think that you want something, but then you can make every excuse not to do it. Don't let that be you in 2014. Think long and hard about what you hope to accomplish and set your mind to it!

If You Are Not Hassle Free, You Are Pretty Much a Hassle!
I think now more than any time in history experiences are what matter.
This is true if you are an individual contributor or a leader.
Products and services can and have always been copied.
However, the one unique attribute that cannot be copied are the experiences that you as an individual contributor or you as a leader create.
So, answer honestly….
How Easy Are You to Do Business With?
Lets me guess, not so easy.
I challenge you to use the six keys to becoming hassle free in the info graphic.

Kerb your enthusiasm: New drivers take three-and-a-half years to get the hang of motoring
It takes motorists three-and-a-half years to get the hang of driving after receiving their licence, a study has found.
Two-thirds of drivers under 25 still lack confidence on the roads with many frequently struck by nerves on roundabouts, motorways and in the dark.
The report also found the typical young driver has had three near misses since passing their test and openly admitted they were at fault.
