Hair highlights are usually added to a base color to create depth and dimension. They can also be used to create a more youthful and natural look to color treated hair. Hair highlights can also be used to create a unique look or to create an edgier look. In order to get the best results you will need to select one or more highlight colors that will compliment your skin tone, your hair's base color and that will also create the type of look that you are trying to achieve.
You are reading a web page, say a news story on the CNN website, and would like to share it with your friend. The article is interesting but a bit long and therefore there’s a possibility that your ‘busy’ friend may skip the stuff that you really want him to read.
In the good old days of paper, you could have used an highlighter pen to mark the important lines but now that the text has gone digital, so have the highlighter pens. Let’s look at some of the best tools that let you add highlights and text annotations to web pages without installing any software.
One of the easiest tools for adding annotations to public web pages is the Awesome Highlighter.
As soon as you open a web page inside Awesome Highlighter, your mouse cursor will automatically turn itself into a highlighter pen – you just have to select a piece of text to highlight it. You can use different colors for highlighting and there’s also an option to add text notes to web pages
I was pretty excited to write this post because my current must-have right now in my makeup routine is the highlighter!
This makeup item is designed to “highlight” the high points of the face. By putting highlighter in these areas, it will give the illusion that they are higher/taller/fuller. Also, highlighting the face can make it look dewey, “glowy” and youthful.
Here is a quick and easy guide to know where exactly to put highlighters:

Trekking tragedy shakes Nepal's faith in shoestring tourism
German tourist Tobias Pantel is determined to leave soon on a five-day hike in the Annapurna region, the very place where dozens were killed by a freak blizzard and avalanches in Nepal's most deadly trekking disaster.
As the search for dozens still missing on the snow-covered Himalayan slopes continues and relatives around the world wait in desperation for news of their loved ones, more foreigners are preparing to hit the trail.
"It was a natural accident that could take place anywhere," said Pantel as she sat outside a Kathmandu hotel, sipping beer and smoking with her husband. "I want to go to the area because it is very beautiful. I don't think the storm will come next time."
Every year, thousands of adventure tourists like Pantel set out on treks in the spectacular heights around Annapurna, the world's tenth-highest peak. But many have little or no previous experience on mountains, and many are young backpackers who are cavalier about the risks and tend not to hire trained guides.
I Love You Hands Down
Hands down, I love you.
It really is easy to love your kids. It requires little effort and poses no difficulty. I’ts an easy job. No trouble at all. It’s a cinch, hands down.
The love part should be. It’s just all the other guff that gets in the way.
So what does ‘hands down’ mean anyway and who started it?
Over at Wiktionary I found out that this colloquialism’s origin dates back to the mid-19th century. It was initially used in relation to horse racing and jockeys. Riders needed to keep the reigns tight during a race unless they were so far ahead they could afford to slacken off. He could drop his hands and loosen the reigns right near the end and still win.
So in the race of life, love your kids like there’s no tomorrow. Keep the reigns tight when the need arises and give them a little bit of slack now and then. You’ll come out a winner and so will your kids.
Victory will be yours, hands down!
If you are unfamiliar with the term, as I was before my departure, a hawkers center is sort of like a large, outdoor food court. But different. The food is all local and in Singapore that means predominately Chinese, Indian and Thai and incredibly inexpensive. Most food stalls are specialized - preparing just a few main dishes around a central theme.
My first foray into the hawker's center was an assault on my senses - really like everywhere in Chinatown you can not walk a few steps without smelling something delicious cooking. But the energy, the overwhelming choices and the heat all aided to my awe.
M.I.A. calls Justin Bieber's video 'an assault to my eyes and senses'
Image Credit: Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic.com; Robin Wong/PR Photos“I find the new Justin Bieber video more violent and more of an assault to my eyes and senses than what I’ve made,” says M.I.A. in the latest issue of U.K. weekly magazine NME. Opting not to explain her recent “Born Free” video, in which redheaded citizens of a desert nation are slaughtered, M.I.A. called Bieber’s clips “more offensive” than her controversial offering.
Istanbul: an assault on the senses
On one of our first few days in Istanbul, on one hot afternoon, we made our way through a very tightly packed street market. We bumped and shoved through narrow streets lined with endless vendor stalls. The ground was wet and dirty. I just wanted to make it out and have some space again. Being crammed into a large body of people feels suffocating.
At one point, D turned around and said “Can you smell that Turkish coffee?” It’s become such an instinct now that I didn’t even realize I was holding my nose (yeah it’s an odd defense mechanism against yucky market smells). I let it out and breathed in deeply. Like, really breathed in. Immediately, the intense aroma of freshly ground coffee beans rushed in. It smelled delicious.
As we continued our way through the market, I eagerly took in all the smells… the smells of sewage, cigarette smoke, and car fumes, but also the smells of spices that I can’t even identify, raw fish, and grilled meats. Everything was so individually distinct, and yet perfectly weaved together to create an intoxicating ambiance.
A Hotel With Character
As I think back on the hotels in which we’ve stayed over the years, I realize it’s not the fancy ones that stick out in my mind. It’s not the dumpy ones either—the truth is, I try really hard to forget those. No, the hotels I remember best are those with character. The places where the owner is engaging, or you feel like you are visiting someone’s home, or perhaps the town hot spot, where the locals gather to sing karaoke.
It was a really great morning. It's one of those days that will always stick out in my mind when I think back to Georgia's baby days. This really is the best season. Weather and life.
How clinical research is improving patient care
Previously the benefits could only be felt in large teaching hospitals. That is all about to change, as Debbie Andalo explains

The entitlement of patients to take part in clinical trials that have the potential to benefit their healthcare is enshrined in England's NHS constitution.
